Commercial Sitting Area and Urban Streambank Restoration

This music rehearsal and production studio contacted us with the two-fold goal of creating an inviting outdoor sitting area for resident musicians and restoring an urban streambank bordering the back of the property that was overtaken by invasive species. In the sitting area we responded to the client's request of incorporating mosquito repellent plants by mixing rosemary, lavender, beauty berry, and lots of lemon balm with ornamental grasses and a simple native flower palette. For the streambank we worked with the client to coordinate several goat grazing visits to beat back invasive species and subsequently prioritized the planting of native flood tolerant trees and shrubs that are beginning to establish a system of roots to stabilize the bank while remediation of invasives continues. We also selected the aggressive native hayscented fern to go toe to toe with the kudzu.
